Bachelor Of Design (Product Design)

The foundation programme of the BDPD programme contains basic courses like Evolution of Design, Computer Assisted Design 2D, sketching and Rendering and elements of design in the first semester. Visualisation software and visual design are taught to students in the successive semesters. Students work in collaborative team based design projects in each semester starting from ideation , design ,and iterative prototyping of three dimensional forms to design products. Knowledge about properties and usage of different types of materials and handling them is also part of the curriculum. The courses on product design and development teach students the process of understanding the user requirements, explicit and implicit, for a product & experience the problem-solving process for product design. Exposure to technology is provided by teaching Computer programming using C and python languages , data structures and design and analysis of algorithms. These courses serve as prerequisites to the subjects of AI for designers and game design in later semesters. Specializations in Visual, interaction and communication design is reinforced through a pool of electives in the latter half of the programme.

Bachelor Of Design (Fashion Technology)

The foundation programme of the BDFT programme contains basic courses like Evolution of Design, Computer Assisted Design 2D, Sketching and Rendering and Elements of Design which are taught in the first semester. During the course of study students are taught to develop an understanding of several types of fabrics, their structure, efficacy and knowledge of textile dyeing and printing. as well as various fashion design software, computer programming, application of databases applications in fashion business and AI/ML for fashion designers. The overall objective of the programme is to create human resources skilled and trained in fashion design using the latest technology. The exposure to specializations and state of the art in fashion is reinforced through a pool of Electives in the latter half of the programme. Through the development of a Mini-Collection in second and third years, students get an opportunity to think in terms of personal creativity, appropriate construction techniques and unique selling proposition and application of the latest tools and technology. The objective in the final year is to prepare a unique portfolio as a stepping stone for job search within the corporate world or to start their own entrepreneur journey or access to higher learning.

State of the art pattern making and garment construction Lab is a well-equipped laboratory designed to create professional level Apparel making and production skills, from beginners to advanced levels, across a range of different garments.

Product Tinkering Laboratory

Innovation and entrepreneurship have become an integral part of our life. Students are introduced to technology innovation by establishing Tinkering Lab in the design course. Tinkering Lab is designed to help and nurture creativity amongst young innovators. The lab enables students to explore new ideas, test them and follow ‘learning by doing’ approach.
